DA HOSTS CHILD SUPPORT SETTLEMENT' DAY FOR DELINQUENT PARENTS

Decatur, Ga.- The Office of the DeKalb County District Attorney is hosting a child support ‘settlement’ day for delinquent parents to become financially compliant with their child support court orders. The event will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in the Child Support Enforcement/UIFSA Division of the District Attorney’s Office. Notification letters have already been mailed to eligible parents outlining the amount due and other documents required to be presented in person.

Parents who remit proper payments can have their driver’s licenses reinstated, if applicable. Delinquent parents who fail to appear or bring their accounts current, will be subject to legal action. District Attorney Boston hopes to avoid the latter. “Our primary interest is in giving non-custodial parents an opportunity to get back on track with their payments and provide support to the children and families we serve,” said Boston. “Where appropriate, we will also assist with employment and other resources to support them in that effort. It is our hope that legal action is a last resort.”

Representatives from Child Support Services will be on-site to assist with questions along with other providers who will offer information and resources related to job training and other appropriate services.
