DECATUR, GA – A DeKalb County jury today found a man guilty of shooting and killing his fiancé as she was trying to end their relationship.
Antione Hood, 31, was convicted of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Hood called 9-1-1 on Feb. 17, 2015 to report that Candace McGriff fatally shot herself.

He told police that during a lull in a heated argument they were having, McGriff turned her gun on herself and fired.

A Medical Examiner’s forensic investigator determined, and testified during the trial, that evidence showed that someone else fired the fatal gunshot.
The jury began deliberating on Friday afternoon and broke late that evening, picking up again on Monday morning before returning a verdict.
A sentencing hearing will be scheduled at a later date.
