Javoyne Hicks White is proud to serve the citizens of DeKalb County as the acting district attorney of Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit. She assumed the job on Sept. 3, 2010.
Hicks White was one of two existing chief assistant district attorneys who reported to District Attorney Gwen Keyes Fleming. In early September Keyes Fleming accepted a position as a regional district administrator for the federal Environmental Protection Agency. As a chief assistant district attorney Hicks White managed the office’s white collar crime, domestic violence/sexual assault units, drug court, a pre-trial diversion program, the Grand Jury and the office’s Juvenile Court unit.
She was also responsible for the child support unit, support staff, oversaw the development and implementation of office policies and procedures, human resources matters and the budget.
In other prior positions she worked for the Georgia Attorney General’s Office, served as an associate magistrate and as an assistant district attorney in three judicial circuits in Georgia. Hicks White has more than 17 years of experience as a prosecutor. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she earned her undergraduate and law degrees. She has held a leadership position with the DeKalb DA’s office since 2005.
Hicks White will serve as district attorney until the new DeKalb County district attorney is sworn in later this year. DeKalb County voters will vote for a new district attorney on Nov. 2, 2010.
