Victim-Witness Unit employees assist thousands of victims and witnesses to help them deal with the affects of domestic violence, elder abuse, sexual assualt, crimes against children and homicide. On a percentage basis in 2009 domestic violence accounted for 61 percent of the victim-witness caseload, crimes against children took up 23 percent of the caseload, homicide and sexual assault accounted for six percent each of the caseload and elder abuse accounted for the remaining four percent.
